Ajay Devgn to co-produce biopic based on Ramsay brothers

The Ramsay Brothers rose to fame with cult films like ‘Purani Haveli’, ‘Do Gaz Zameen Ke Neeche’, ‘Veerana’ and ‘Bandh Darwaza’. These films were widely popular for their unique mix of horror and erotica.

The Ramsay Brothers who revolutionised the horror genre for the Indian cinema with their low-budget movies in the 1970s and ’80s, are getting a biopic on their life with Bollywood star Ajay Devgn attached as producer.

Devgn and Priti Sinha have acquired the rights of the journey of the seven brothers and would produce the project together.

Ajay Devgn is known for his comic capers and action-thrillers mostly. He has been a part of a handful of horror genre films as well. If not act, the De De Pyaar De actor is seen producing films. He already has a bank of films in his kitty that he is starring in and also some that he is producing. To add to the list is the biopic on the life of Ramsay bros. who are known for their horror genre films they created. The Ramsay brothers consisted of a team of seven brothers namely – Kumar, Keshu, Tulsi, Karan/Kiran, Shyam, Gangu, and Arjun Ramsay.

Titled ‘The Ramsay Biopic’, it is written by Ritesh Shah.

“The late Tulsi Ramsay and Shyam Ramsay, along with every member of the Ramsay family, instilled their faith in us by giving us their biopic rights.

Ajay will be seen collaborating with producer Priti Sinha. The duo has acquired the right to narrate the story on the life of Ramsay brothers and Ritesh Shah will write the script for the same. Priti Sinha is the daughter of producer Vinay Sinha and has previously produced films like David (2013) and Stumped (2003). In an interview with Mid-Day, Priti revealed that she is thankful for the family in putting their trust in them. She said, “The family has put their faith in us by giving us the rights [to a film on their life]. Ajay and I are excited to depict the fascinating journey of passion, hardship, and success of three generations of the family that established the horror empire in India.”
