On the November 6th episode, Big B had put up a question – Which of these rulers was a contemporary of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb? A) Maharana Pratap B) Rana Sanga C) Maharaja Ranjit Singh D) Shivaji.
After the massive uproar of fans against sheer negligence of Sony TV, it seems that the message got conveyed and Sony Tv has apologized to people. It happened so that in one of the questions in a recent episode, Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj was not given a respectful title and it irked the viewers to such an extent that they trended boycotting Sony on Twitter for many hours.
The question was “Which of these rulers was the contemporary of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb?” and the options given were A. Maharana Pratap, B. Rana Sanga, C. Maharaja Ranjit Singh, D. Shivaji
Referring Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj as just Shivaji on the show sparked controversy. The reference hurt sentiments of the people of Maharashtra. Many took to Twitter to lash out at Sony TV and the makers of KBC. In fact, #Boycott_KBC_SonyTV started trending on Twitter after the upset people took to Twitter.
Now, Amitabh has apologised on the social media site. He retweeted KBC‘s show-runner Siddhartha Basu’s tweet and wrote, “No disrespect meant at all .. apologies if it has hurt sentiments.”
Now in the apology, Sony has written,“There was an inaccurate reference to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj during Wednesday’s KBC episode, due to inadvertence. We deeply regret the same and being mindful of the sentiments of our viewers have carried a scroll expressing regret during our episode yesterday.”
